The life of Moira Wilson/Cunny

Created by Chanel 3 years ago

Moira Susan Wilson was born on 27th December 1963 at Wallsend General Hospital to Kathleen Maureen Wilson and Ronald Wilson. She was the 4th out of 5 children, amongst two older brothers, Don and Tony and two sister, Julie and Sandra.

Moira lived a very happy childhood, growing up in Forest Hall. She loved family holidays, getting up to mischief with her best friend Pauline and being part of the Forest Hall jazz band.As Moira grew older and into her teenage and young adult years, her love of music took off with her 'hippy phase'. Decorating her room in posters of Rainbow, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath. She frequented the Mayfair, The Farmers and the Handy Side Arcade, talking about it for years later.

Moira had a vary of jobs over her life. She began as a hairdresser at J. Pettys in Jesmond, where she made lifelong friends with boss, Adrienne. She then moved on to work at:

Mardi Gras/Head of Steam, Bimbi's, Etam's, Findus, Asda, Morrisons, West Moor Primary School, Childminder, Premier Inn, Caffe Ape, Thorntons, Sitel.

Whilst working as a hairdresser, Moira met Jimmy. The two fell in love and after 30 years eventually got married in 2017. They had some fantastic times together, holidays to Greece, trips away with friends and supported each other in the lows. In 1996, they welcomed, daughter, Chanel into the world and the three became a tight family unit. Making memories everyday.

Moira loved the simple things in life. Dancing the night away with her sister, Julie. Lying on the sofa with Amy, the beloved pet cat of the Cunny's for 16 years and holidays both in and out of the UK. She was happy with whatever was offered to her and never asked for anything more.

In 2016, Moira fell ill and was diagnosed with Grade 4, Anaplastic Astrocytoma with high grade glioma. Although her diagnosis was a shock and a devastating, Moira was ready to face her fight with valour and take whatever treatment was offered. She had intensive radiotherapy and two rounds of chemotherapy during her illness and with each treatment she took them on like a champion with no side effect which effected her quality of life. Moira was a true fighter and made having terminal cancer look like a breeze, allowing her time to create precious memories and do the things she wanted to do with her family and friends.

Unfortunately, on 24th May 2020, Moira lost her battle with brain cancer. She took her last breath in St Oswald's Hospice. It was peaceful, dignified and the ending she should have never have had at the age of 56 but the one she deserved in the circumstances. She leaves behind her legacy on the Wilson/Cunny family in her quirky, funny traits and memories that will make us giggle for many years to come.

Moira was one in a million.

RIP.

Love you to the moon and back.
